When I launched this Blog, I said we were going to talk about all the things that Girlfrends talk about. All of my posts so far have been pretty self introspective but Today... Let’s Play Dress UP!

I haven’ t done much with clothes recently as I am on a Health and weight loss journey and I don’t want to invest in clothes that won’t fit for much longer but, I am to the point where my starting clothes are so big my pants are falling down.

So the Search begins for clothes that don’t break the bank but can help transition me to my smaller size. The first obstacle to overcome, just like in weight loss and healthy living is your mindset, you are not the same person you were when you started this journey. Stop hiding behind big baggy clothes, you make think that wearing things that are too big make you look smaller. WRONG! They make you look larger and give the impression that you don’t care about yourself. In this first example, I just want to show the difference between baggy and loose and then tucked in showing a slimmer self.

Same pieces of clothing but, in one I look sloppy and heavier, the other you can tell I have a waist and not as sloppy. Do you notice how my stomach looks huge in the first photo and not in the second. Stop, wearing clothes that hang off you, it isn’t doing you any justice.

I saw this ad on Instagram of the jumpsuit that everyone is talking about that you could get from Amazon. Well, I haven’t actually heard anyone talk about this jumpsuit until this ad but, I started thinking about the versatility and comfort of a jumpsuit. First of all they are comfy, second you can dress them up or down and third they are figure forgiving. So, I bought two of these much talked about jumpsuits. I bought a size smaller than I thought that I needed so that I could get more use out of it.

I didn’t accessorize my outfits the way I would since I was trying to get a lot of photos in a short time but, I will share all the things you can do.

HaHa! I just noticed my facial expressions in these! It’s raining today and I decided to do a “home spa day”, (next weeks blog topic) and I had whitening trays in. We are focusing on the clothes though so we will just keep going. As you can see in the first photo, the smaller size jumpsuit fits but, it doesn’t fit well, at least not yet. So, a long cardigan or kimono can be the perfect answer, The sweater can cover the flaws that have yet to disappear and can make the outfit a little more fun. One thing that I would change is that I do not like the drawstring so, I am adding to my accessory list a wide belt like this one. I bought two in bright colors as we are in spring and I want to wear colors that reflect the way I feel.

Sometimes though, you want comfort but a little elegance so black is the easy answer. This is from a company called Illuminative, I love the items that come from this company as they also have affirmations printed on them such as “I am beautiful” and ”I am strong”. I have several of their items but my favorite in regards to this blog topic is guess what??? The jumpsuit. You can throw on flats, flip flops, sandals or heels depending on the occasion. A great Belt, cardigan, scarf, jewelry and you can wear this so many ways for so many different looks. And I love the opening in the back! (Got to do squats to get that butt looking better.)

Jumpsuits aren’t the only awesome transition options. Dresses are just as forgiving. There are two styles in particular, the wrap dress and the shift dress. They are not super structured and can be manipulated to show your smoking curves. I have had these dresses for a little bit so, I can’t find them online but, there are some awesome options on Amazon.

I know in the Time of Covid, we don’t have many occasions that call for a dress but, sometimes you create one and have Dinner and a Movie with a loved one... it will make you feel good!

Jeans and pants. I love a good jean, I have actually donated 20 pairs of jeans during this weight-loss period so, I guess I have a problem. I love Kut from the Kloth jeans but, they are an investment so to get me through until I can really invest in long term jeans, I took advantage of a sale they were having and purchased a pair of their jeans, cut them to the right length for spring and voila great jeans to get you through the season, I bough them a size smaller than I thought I needed so I could use them longer. I also visited my local Target and bought some button down Khaki’s and another pair of jeans. Your local Target, Old Navy and TJ Maxx are great options for inexpensive transition clothes. While your jeans are fitting you a little tighter, go with a looser top, it will help balance the look and the inverse is true as well, as your jeans are fitting looser, wear a more fitted top. Adding a belt can also add shape to your outfit and once the jeans start fitting looser, it keeps them from falling down.

I love this blue pheasant top. A few years ago while visiting Coronado, I shopped in a store named Miss Matched. That is where I got the shift dress above and I swear, its the item of clothing I receive the most compliments on. So, as my body started changing and I needed a boost to my wardrobe, I went to their website and got a few pieces that would make me feel good and I love them... you can use Discount code MM20 on their site for 20% off your purchase.

This is all the time I have for dress up this week as I need to go walk Remington. Next week we will talk about Athletic clothes and how to transition from hiding in sweats to proudly wearing workout clothes and not break the bank.
